Testimonials: What Our Clients Are Saying!

Herb and the Colony Home Improvement Team,
I wanted to thank you for the outstanding work your team did on my house. Being military and moving regularly, it is difficult to get a sense for who can provide quality service at a fair price when you are new to an area. After getting quotes and seeing shoddy workmanship from other contractors, I was becoming skeptical of finding a quality contracting team in the Hampton Roads area. Herb set a time for a walkthrough and a quote for the work I wanted done. He was the first contractor that actually kept the appointment on time. His estimate was fair. Herb's crews were organized, fast, efficient, polite and clean. Herb regularly checked on the progress of his crews and ensured that quality work was being done. In the end, the workmanship was simply awesome. Additionally, Herb followed up with his company's work a few weeks later to ensure the quality of the work and that there were no further issues to address. Both Herb, his crews, and Colony Home Improvement Team are consumate professionals. Best of all, the price was very, very fair. My home looks great. If you are military or new to the area, I would recommend no one but Herb and the Colony Home Improvement Team for any and all renovation work to your home. They are simply the best.

Dear Herb, You performed a miracle on my house with two days of work. My neighbors and I came home from work and found a brand new house. You helped me choose the correct color and shingle style for my new roof. Wrapping all the wood on my house saves me time and money for annual repairs and most importantly no job was too small for your company as you installed my mailbox and hung my new window shutters. I can't thank you enough for the wonderful job and decent prices for the hard work and service you provided me. I will always call you first for any future projects!

We hired a contractor to install a tub-liner, surround, and wainscoting on remaining walls. The job they did was TERRIBLE. Caulk all over the walls and it was turning black from mold, the ceiling piece was sagging about 2-3 inches, and there was water between the liner and the original tub. Mr. Paynter was 1 of 3 estimates we took to our lawyer. Our court case was successful, thanks to Mr. Paynter standing up in court for us and a good lawyer. We got all of our money back (plus lawyer's fees). We decided to call Mr. Paynter to fix the job that was done in our bathroom (basically, a complete tear-out and remodel). We signed our proposal and the next day they started. Mr. Paynter and his employees were professional and on time doing the job. We are 100% satisfied with the job Colony Home Improvements did, and will recommend them to anyone needing work done to their home. They turned our eyesore bathroom into a beautiful room.It is now something that we are proud of. -Billy and Jennifer Saulman

Herb, We really appreciate the work that was done to our house by Colony Home improvements. It is truly refreshing to deal with a business that is honest, hard working, and professional as you and your crew were. I had called around ten different contractors to come and give me estimates for the work that I wanted done, new siding, windows, roof, gutters and trim wrapped. It's funny from the minute I spoke with you on the phone to schedule an estimate, I had a good feeling about the work that Colony would do. After talking with you when you came to do the estimate it confirmed my feeling. I'm really glad that I choose you to do the work. Again kudos to your great team of workers who were, friendly, courteous, and extremely skilled, these attributes produced a fantastic end result that we are really pleased with. If and when I need anything else done you are sure to get a call from me. Carey

Dear Mr. Paynter,
Thank you for the quality work performed by your company in my home. I had four estimates form other contractors and let another contractor who had already started the job go before you were hired. I could have saved time and money if I had know about your company first. I am happy to say that you were able to change my screened in porch into a sun and hobby room that I pal to enjoy for years to come.

Knowledge: I appreciate that you asked about the purpose of the project, listened to my ideas and shared your ideas. You were aware of materials that would work and had equipment needed to install them. After two trips to my home we had a plan, a contract and work could begin.

Materials and Equipment: Excellent quality and enough experience so that your employees made the job look easy - enough said!

Management: You were available, on the job and via phone and email. Your employees knew what to do. I was introduced to them, advised of their schedules and kept informed of job progress. I was told about a plumbing problem when it was discovered. Your employees were focused, respectful or their language and did a quality job.

Connections: Your business connects were useful in solving my electrical and plumbing problems. Their work was completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.

I plan to call on you for my future home improvements.

I will be happy to talk with anyone about my experience with you and your company and my sun room is available for inspection by any of your future clients.

Dear Mr. Paynter (Herb):
This is a letter of appreciation for all you did to see that we got a quality storage building for our church, First Baptist Church Denbigh.

You were patient through the long processes we experienced to meet Newport News' requirements and did not pass on to us any losses you may have ensued because of those delays. You were always courteous during our discussions and were willing to correct any defects on the building, including minors ones. Even after the building was completed and had been given final approval by the city, you were willing to correct a problem (an oversight) the city presented that would have affected our receipt of the boond we had paid for the site work. Again, you did that at no additional expense to us.

Your Christian values and understanding of God's Word were demonstrated by your actions.

Thank you for being a brother of Christ.

I am writing to thank you for doing an excellent job replacing my home windows and patio door. You team was very pleasant as well as professional, and the quality of work was exceptional. Given my experience with previous contractors performing poor quality work, I was very pleased with the outstanding performance of your team. I will certainly keep you on my short list for future home improvement projects.

With Warm regards,

Hi Herb & Tina,

Thank you again for your patience and thoughtfulness. Maybe not the first words most of the other contractors of the area receive. But, you are not among a group! You have your own spot, and for me it's in my heart.
I love my floor!
